Bird Watching Tour at Himachal Duration: 12 Days

Day 1: Delhi
Arrive in and around midnight hours. Spend the night at the hotel.



Day 2: Delhi
Bird watching at Okhla Barrage will keep you busy in the morning. In the afternoon take a sightseeing tour of India Gate, Qutab Minar, Humayun’s Tomb and President’s House. Spend the night in the hotel.



Day 3: Delhi-Narkanda
Take a 4 hours train ride to Chandigarh from Delhi. Take another 6 hours journey to Narkanda; stop for birding. Stay for the night at the hotel.



Day 4: Narkanda-Sangla
Start in the morning and take a 6 hours drive to Sangla (2900 meters) through breathtaking and spectacular gorges of Greater Himalayas. In the evening enjoy bird walk at Sangla. Have an overnight stay at the tent.



Day 5: Sangla
Take a couple of hour’s leisurely drive to Chitkul and spend some time for birding on your way. Chitkul happens to be the last inhabited villages enclosed by magnificent mountain peaks and green fields. Come back to Sangla and spend the night at the tent.



Day 6: Sangla
Enjoy bird walk at Sangla and Fort Kamru. Spend the night at the tent.



Day 7: Sangla-Sarahan
Take a 4 hours drive to Sarahan (1920 meters), a pretty village surrounded by apple orchards and enclosed by Shrikhand Mahadev peak. Shrikhand Mahadev peak resembling Shivlinga is noted for its famous Bhimakali temple. Spend the rest half of the day in bird watching and paying a visit to the Pheasant Breeding Center. Have an overnight stay at the hotel.



Day 8: Sarahan-Tirthan Valley
Leave for Goshaini (3000 meters) via Jalori pass and Shoja. The drive is for 8 hours. Shoja, a tiny village is situated at an altitude of 8000 feet. The route Shoja gives you the charm of untouched habitat as the road winds through thick forest and alpine trees. Have lunch at Shoja and enjoy walking on the forest logging road that takes you on a tour of pheasant countryside. The popular pheasant birds include Monal, Kaleej and Koklas. Come back to Goshaini and spend the night at Tirthan tourist lodge.



Day 9: Tirthan Valley
Visit the Greater Himalayan National Park and bird walk in the morning. In the afternoon take a downstream walk along the borders of River Tirthan. Spend the night at the tourist lodge of Tirthan.



Day 10: Tirthan & Banjar Valley
Visit Bahu and Jibhi for bird watching and spend a night at Tirthan tourist lodge.



Day 11: Tirthan Valley-Bhunter airport-Delhi
Take a three hours drive to Bhunter from Tirthan to catch a return flight to Delhi in the morning. Transfer to the hotel at Delhi.



Day 12: Delhi/Onward Destination
Spend your day in bird watching at the Delhi Zoo. Spend the afternoon hours in leisure and transport to the airport for taking a flight to your onward destination.
