Founded in AD 723 as Manju-Patan, during the reign of
Malla Kingdom, Kathmandu is situated in the southeast
of Nepal's center. Earlier known as Kantipur, King Prithvi
Narayan Shah for the first time made Kathmandu as his
capital in the 18th century. It is said to be 'a fabled
capital of convivial pilgrims and carved rose-brick temples'.

is taken on the day of Shivratri every year in the month
of February. Boudnath is one of the largest stupas in
the world and an important Buddhist pilgrimage. Dominated
with Tibetan population, the main trade of the region
today is carpet manufacturing.
The Hanuman Dhoka, the old royal palace, Machchendra Nath
Temple, Residence of the Living Goddess and the Kashthamandap
are other fascinating places that you can see through
